Photo Shoot!

Waaaay better quality!!
So, we had our doctor's appointment today to check for Down syndrome-again! And what do you know...the baby was being so stubborn that the sonographer could not get the baby in the right position to measure the fluid in the back of the neck. So the appointment was kind of pointless except for the fact that we got to see our baby for 30 minutes!

I am not too worried about the Down syndrome thing anyway.

We got to see the baby suck it's thumb again, and he also had the hiccups again! The baby definitely has 2 arms and 2 legs, and it definitely has 5 fingers on 1 of the hands! (we didn't get to see the other hand very well!)

So, we have our regularly scheduled doctor's appointment on Thursday. I think we get to hear the heartbeat then. How exciting!! So until then, I leave you with some pictures of our little baby's photo shoot!

12 week ultrasound pictures

I know they aren't the best quality-but I think you can tell it's a baby!

My growing belly

Skinny Bitch-Bun in the Oven

My Dad got be a book called Skinny Bitch-Bun in the Oven, and it is an amazing book! You may have heard of the original book, titled Skinny Bitch. The book is written by 2 women who are now vegans, and basically try to get you to become a vegan too. They have a no b.s. approach to explaining what certain foods do once they enter your body. They also tell you about the horrible things animals go through at slaughterhouses. It is very sad, but.....I CAN NOT LIVE WITHOUT MEAT!. I don't think I could ever become a vegan. The book does have some very interesting points. They discuss refined sugar, processed food, High fructose corn syrup. Three things of which I try to avoid. If my body can not process these foods, what the heck is it doing to my baby??? So, from now on, whole grains only, unrefined sugar, and no sodas! Also, Mark and I try to eat as organic as possible. But after reading that book, we are making sure to eat 100% organic. Anyway, I do recommend that book-and please read the chapter on milk...I won't discuss it now, but all I will say is that we are drinking soy milk from now on! Anyway- I want to give my baby the healthiest environment possible, and that starts now. And it starts with me.

13 weeks!

Yay! I am thirteen weeks! Tomorrow is another doctor's appointment-so you know what that means! Another photo shoot with the baby! Overall I am feeling better. Not as nauseous-but still tired. I haven't really gained any weight yet, which is ok. alot of women actually lose weight in their 1st trimester because they are so sick. But starting now, I need to gain 1 pound per week. Since my appetite is coming back, I am sure that will be no problem!

2nd prenatal visit!

So today, Mark and I went to our second visit. I am currently 12 weeks, so this visit was to check what my risk was for having a baby with Down syndrome. They check the fluid behind the baby's neck via ultrasound, and they are supposed to do bloodwork. Well, our little guy (or girl!) was moving around so much that the sonographer could not get the baby in the right position to measure the fluid. (Babies with Down syndrome tend to have more fluid behind the neck.) The sonographer tried for about 30 minutes before giving up...SO... I have to go back in a week. Even though we really didn't find out anything today, we got to see our little babe! He was jumping around so much! The babe looked like it was doing squats! It also sucked it's thumb and had the hiccups as well! It really was amazing to see, and definitely put alot of my worries to rest. Throughout this pregnancy I have been such a worry wart, wondering if the baby was still alive, how strong the heartbeat was, etc. So seeing how active he was today and finding out how strong the heartbeat was was definitely reassuring!
